Re-lamping consists of replacing all or groups of lamps in a building at the same time. It is less expensive than repeatedly replacing burnt out lamps. Generally speaking, re-lamping is recommended at 70% of rated life. After this point, output diminishes, and a significant number of burnouts begin to take place. Re-lamping and scheduled maintenance is a pro-active approach which has been found to reduce relamping costs by 50%.
Trunking and Dado power systems are a convenient, safe, and tidy way of providing power outlets, telephone points, and data points at work height. Multiple outlets can be positioned anywhere along the trunking and can be relocated easily if the office layout needs to be changed.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAW Regulations) came into force on 1 April 1990. The regulation requires all electrical systems to be installed and maintained to a safe standard and to ensure that all precautions are taken against the risk of death or personal injury from electricity in work activities.
The best way to find out if your electrical equipment is safe is to have it inspected and tested by a person who is competent to do so. Many of the potential faults in electrical equipment can be identified with through inspection and testing by a competent engineer, but electrical equipment should be tested more thoroughly on a regular basis. The test should be carried out often enough that there is little chance that the equipment will become unsafe between tests. Equipment for use in harsh conditions may need very regular testing whilst equipment in clean, dry, well-controlled environments may need less regular testing.
There is more to lighting a car park than simply scattering a few lights around. Correctly designed car park lighting will use the right type of lighting correctly located to provide uniform and safe lighting whilst using the minimum energy.
Security lights are an efficient way to deter intruders. Low cost sodium lighting that remains on throughout the hours of darkness can be supplemented with high power lighting that uses movement detection or passive infra red detection to selectively activate. In order to avoid activation by animals or passing cars the system must be correctly designed and adjusted.
If you are moving offices or simply refurbishing existing premises then it is often more economical to rewire areas than to install additional power to an existing system. Rather than run the risk of overloading your system let us help you to design an efficient, safe and modern power system for your building.
We design and install all electrical power requirements for shops offices, warehouses, restaurants, bars and clubs with a focus on energy efficiency, saving you money in the long term.
